1,4-Benzoquinone dioxime is pure yellow needle like crystal, and the industrial product is light grey powder. Soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, insoluble in toluene, solvent gasoline and water. Flammable and low toxic, mainly used as vulcanizing agent for butyl rubber adhesive. P-nitrophenol was synthesized by nitrosation of phenol, then transposed to p-quinone monooxime, and then reacted with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. Under stirring, phenol is slowly dissolved in 30% sodium hydroxide solution, mixed with sodium nitrite at 0 C, and then added with 30% sulfuric acid. The temperature is kept at 7 - 8 C and stirred for 1 h. Filtered out the crystals and washed away the acid with water to obtain nitroso phenol. Then transposition was mixed with hydroxylamine hydrochloride aqueous solution and heated to 70 C for oxime reaction. After the reaction was finished, the two oxime was filtered.

1,4-Benzoquinone dioxime Application:
Used as vulcanizing agent for butyl rubber, natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber and polysulfide "ST" rubber, especially for butyl rubber. Oxidizing agents (such as Pb3O4, PbO2) activate them. It is easy to disperse and fast vulcanizing in rubber, and the tensile strength of vulcanizates is high. The critical temperature is relatively low with scorching tendency. Adding some anti-coke agents (such as phthalic anhydride, anti-coke agent NA), thiolazole, thiocyanate formate accelerators can effectively improve the operational safety. It has discolourants and contaminants and is only suitable for dark products. When DM was used as activator, the scorching resistance was better than that of lead oxide, and the discoloration was also weakened, except for carbon black compound. When four chlorobenzene is used as an activator, the activation is much stronger than that of lead oxide. This product is mainly used for making airbags, water tyres, insulation layer of wire and cable, heat-resistant gaskets, etc. Take 1-2 copies. Match with lead oxide 10-6 parts or accelerator DM4-2. Quinone two oxime is a reagent for the determination of nickel.
